Hastelloy B-3 Alloy Steel Pipes
Alloy Overview
Hastelloy B-3 is an excellent nickel-based high-temperature alloy with a unique composition, including nickel, molybdenum, cobalt and other elements. The nickel content is about 65%, which enables it to maintain excellent mechanical properties in high temperature environments. It has been significantly improved on the basis of Hastelloy B-2, significantly improving thermal stability and enhancing corrosion resistance.

Alloy steel pipe performance
1. Mechanical properties
At room temperature, Hastelloy B-3 has excellent mechanical properties, with tensile strength, yield strength and elongation all reaching high levels. After proper heat treatment, its tensile strength can reach 760MPa, yield strength is 350MPa, elongation is 40%, and Brinell hardness does not exceed 94HBS.
2. Physical properties
Its density is 9.24g/cm³, melting point ranges from 1370℃ to 1418℃, elastic modulus is 216KN/mm², and thermal expansion coefficient is 10.6μm/m℃ (20℃ to 100℃). These physical properties enable alloy steel pipes to maintain stable performance in various extreme environments.
3. Corrosion resistance
Hastelloy B-3 alloy pipes have excellent corrosion resistance to hydrochloric acid and can perform well in hydrochloric acid environments of any temperature and concentration. At the same time, it also has excellent resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, knife-edge corrosion and heat-affected zone corrosion, and has good tolerance to acetic acid, acetic acid, phosphoric acid and other non-oxidizing acids.
Applicable scenarios
Due to its excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature stability, Hastelloy B-3 alloy pipes are widely used in the production and manufacturing of chemical equipment. However, like B-2 alloy, it is not recommended for use in environments with trivalent iron salts and divalent copper salts, because these salts will quickly cause corrosion damage. When hydrochloric acid comes into contact with iron and copper, it will react chemically with them to form trivalent iron salts and divalent copper salts, thereby accelerating the corrosion of the alloy pipe.
