Main properties

1. Excellent corrosion resistance

Applicable to a variety of media: C22 Hastelloy alloy performs well in a variety of corrosive media, including oxidizing and reducing acids, chlorides, etc. C22 Hastelloy alloy is particularly excellent in corrosion resistance in seawater environmentand can remain stable for a long time in hypochlorite solution (NaOCl) and hydrochloric acid solution (HCl),with an average corrosion rate below 0.002mm/yr, which is much lower than 304 stainless steel.

2. Resistance to corrosion in different acids: In reducing acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid), 

C22 Hastelloy alloy still has strong corrosion resistance even at high temperatures above 250°C; in nitric acid, mixed acid and chloride-containing environments, 

C22 Hastelloy alloy can significantly reduce the occurrence of pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and intergranular corrosion; in chloride ion, chloride and oxidizing media, 

C22 Hastelloy alloy shows strong resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion, and is suitable for seawater, acid mine water and industrial wastewater treatment.

3. Excellent high temperature performance

High temperature strength: C22 Hastelloy alloy can still maintain good strength and stability at high temperature (about 800℃). At 600℃, the tensile strength of C22 Hastelloy alloy reaches 450MPa, the yield strength is about 310MPa, and the tensile strength is about 690MPa, and it still maintains good mechanical properties and creep resistance.

4. Good machinability

(1) Processing friendly: Although Hastelloy alloy materials are generally difficult to process, the machinability of C22 Hastelloy alloy has been significantly improved by optimizing trace elements and metallurgical processes. It is especially suitable for cutting, welding and other processes, and has obvious advantages in the manufacture of parts with complex structures.

(2) Weldability: It has good weldability. During the welding process, C22 Hastelloy alloy can maintain its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance without significant impact. It is suitable for the manufacture of components with complex shapes and performs well in gas shielded arc welding (GTAW) and manual arc welding (SMAW).

Application fields

1. Petrochemicals

During the extraction and processing of oil and natural gas, it can effectively resist the corrosion of chemical media such as hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and maintain long-term stability. 

Petrochemical equipment such as heat exchangers and piping systems often use C22 alloys to extend the service life of equipment and reduce maintenance costs.

2. Pharmaceuticals and medical

Some equipment in the pharmaceutical industry needs to be exposed to strong acids and alkalis, and has high requirements for the biocompatibility and corrosion resistance of materials. C22 alloy is a high-safety material choice that can improve the safety and compliance of production.

3. Environmental protection and wastewater treatment

Due to its corrosion resistance and acid and alkali resistance, it is widely used in sewage treatment equipment, waste gas desulfurization equipment, etc. 

When treating wastewater or waste gas containing strong acids and alkalis, its durability and stability are better than traditional alloys or coating materials.
