1. Corrosion resistance
Monel 400 steel plate shows excellent corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas media, and also has good corrosion resistance to hot concentrated alkali solution.Monel 400 steel plate can resist corrosion from a variety of corrosive media such as neutral solution, water, seawater, atmosphere, organic compounds, etc.
Generally, stress corrosion cracks are not generated, ensuring the safety and stability of the material. In most water corrosion conditions, monel 400 steel plate not only has excellent corrosion resistance, but also rarely suffers from pitting corrosion and stress corrosion, with a corrosion rate of less than 0.25mm/a. The maximum temperature for continuous operation in air is generally around 600℃, and in high-temperature steam, the corrosion rate is less than 0.026mm/a. Due to its high nickel content, monel 400 steel plate can resist corrosion under anhydrous ammonia and ammoniation conditions below 585℃. It is corrosion-resistant in sulfuric acid with a concentration of less than 85%, and is one of the very few important materials that can withstand hydrofluoric acid.
2. Mechanical properties
Monel 400 steel plate has good strength and hardness, with a tensile strength of up to 550MPa to 880MPa and a yield strength of about 240MPa to 520MPa. At the same time, monel 400 steel plate also has good plasticity and toughness, and can maintain stable mechanical properties in a wide temperature range.
3. Processing performance
Monel 400 steel plate has good machinability and can be processed by a variety of processes such as heat treatment, cold processing, cutting processing, welding, etc. to meet the needs of various complex shapes and sizes. monel 400 steel plate has good cutting performance and good welding performance. It can be processed by a variety of welding methods, such as tungsten inert gas arc welding (TIG), manual arc welding (MMA) and metal arc welding (MIG). Among them, TIG welding is widely used because of its high welding quality and beautiful welds.
Application fields
1. Marine engineering
Due to its excellent seawater corrosion resistance, monel 400 steel plate is widely used in marine engineering.For example, it can be used to manufacture seawater desalination equipment, offshore oil drilling platforms, submarine pipelines, ship components, seawater treatment systems and other equipment exposed to seawater.
2. Chemical industry
Monel 400 steel plate has good corrosion resistance to many organic acids and chlorides, and can be used to manufacture chemical equipment, chemical reactors, storage tanks, heat exchangers, valves, pumps and pipelines, etc., especially suitable for corrosive environments containing chlorides.
3. Aerospace

Production process
1. Raw material selection and preparation
Select high-quality nickel and copper as raw materials to ensure the content and purity of alloy elements.
2. Melting preparation
Use high-temperature smelting equipment (such as electric furnaces) to melt nickel and copper at a certain ratio at high temperature to control the chemical composition of the alloy and purify impurities.
3. Casting
Pour the molten liquid alloy into a mold and cool it to obtain a casting or ingot.
4. Rolling and annealing
The ingot is subjected to multiple rolling and annealing treatments to gradually reduce the thickness and improve the uniformity of the organizational structure. The rolling process includes hot rolling and cold rolling, which deform the alloy material into the desired shape and size through rolling. Annealing treatment is to keep the material warm at a certain temperature and then cool it slowly to eliminate the residual stress generated during the rolling process and improve the processing performance of the material.
5. Finishing and Straightening
The rolled strip is further processed to make its surface smooth and uniform. These processes help improve the quality and appearance of the finished Monel400 strip.
6. Quality Control
Strict quality control is required throughout the production process, including chemical composition analysis, mechanical properties testing, corrosion resistance testing, etc. These tests can ensure that Monel400 materials meet relevant standards and customer requirements.
7. Welding and Heat Treatment
Welding
Monel400 steel plate has good welding performance and can be processed by a variety of welding methods, such as tungsten inert gas arc welding (TIG), manual arc welding (MMA) and metal arc welding (MIG). Before welding, the weldment needs to be thoroughly cleaned to remove surface oxides and oil stains. At the same time, attention should also be paid to the selection and control of parameters such as welding current, voltage, welding speed and shielding gas flow.
Heat Treatment
Monel400 alloy may require heat treatment after processing and welding.
