Hastelloy C-276 alloy steel bar, also known as Hastelloy C-276 bar, has a grade of C-276, corresponding to the item number LLC276, c-276 and material number 2.4819 (N10276). It is a tungsten-containing nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with extremely low silicon-carbon content. With its excellent comprehensive properties, it plays an important role in many industrial fields and is considered a universal corrosion-resistant alloy.

Core performance

1. Corrosion resistance

Hastelloy C-276 alloy steel bar exhibits excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. The high Mo and Cr content enables it to effectively resist chloride ion corrosion, and the addition of W further improves its corrosion resistance1. In particular, it is one of the only materials that is resistant to corrosion by moist chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions, and has significant corrosion resistance to high-concentration chloride solutions such as ferric chloride and cupric chloride. At the same time, the alloy is suitable for sulfuric acid solutions of various concentrations and is one of the few materials that can be used in hot concentrated sulfuric acid solutions.

2. Mechanical properties

Hastelloy C-276 alloy steel bar has excellent mechanical properties, with a tensile strength σb≥730Mpa, an elongation δ≥40%, and a hardness HRB≤1001.

3. Processing performance

Hot forming: annealing is required immediately at 1150℃ and quenching with water

Cold deformation: cold deformation will increase the strength of the alloy, but because it is stronger than ordinary austenitic stainless steel, it will produce greater stress during cold forming, and the work hardening speed is much faster than ordinary stainless steel. Therefore, in the extensive cold forming process, intermediate annealing is required. However, it has similar forming properties to ordinary austenitic stainless steel

Main application areas

Hastelloy C-276 alloy steel bar is widely used in harsh corrosive environments, and the specific fields are as follows:

1. Chemical and petrochemical fields: components and catalytic systems in contact with chloride-containing organic matter, high temperature, inorganic and organic acids (such as formic acid and acetic acid) environments mixed with impurities, reactors for acetic acid and acidic products, sulfuric acid condensers, methylene diphenyl isocyanate (MDI) production, production and processing of impure phosphoric acid, etc.

2. Flue gas desulfurization: scrubbers, reheaters, wet steam fans, etc. in FGD systems.

3. Pulp and paper industry: digestion and bleaching vessels.

4. Other areas: equipment and components operating in acidic gas environments, titanium dioxide production (chlorine method), electrolytic plating, etc.
