Definition of Electrolytic Tinplate Coil (ETP) Coil
Electrolytic Tinplate Coil (ETP Coil), commonly known as electroplated tinplate coil or tinplate coil in Chinese, is a high value-added cold-rolled coated steel material with an extremely thin tin layer (common thickness is 1.1-15.1g/m²) plated on the surface of cold-rolled thin steel plate through an electrolytic process. Its English abbreviation is ETP or TP, and its core structure consists of a steel base, a tin-iron alloy layer, a tin layer, a passivation layer and an oil film.

Key Technical Parameters and Specifications of ETP Coil
1. Thickness Range: Common product thickness is 0.13-0.7mm, and the specific range provided by different suppliers is slightly different, such as 0.13-0.50mm or 0.14-0.7mm.
2. Tin plating amount: It is expressed as a combination of double-sided tin plating amounts. The mainstream specifications include 2.8/2.8, 5.6/5.6, and 2.8/5.6 (unit: g/m²). Some products are marked as asymmetric combinations such as 5.6/2.8.
3. Surface treatment: Provide a variety of surface forms, such as rough surface (Stone), bright surface (Bright), gold painted surface (gold lacquered), etc., to meet different appearance requirements
4. Processing performance: Support bending (Bending), welding (Welding), cutting (Cutting) and other processing technologies, suitable for canning, bottle caps, can bodies and other forming requirements
Production of ETP steel coils
Production process: mainly includes steelmaking, continuous casting, hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling, annealing, leveling, electroplating tin, passivation, cleaning, oiling, packaging and other links, among which annealing methods are divided into continuous annealing (CA) and hood annealing (BA)
Classification standards of ETP steel coils
1. According to the rolling process: divided into primary cold rolling (SR, thickness 0.17-0.5mm) and secondary cold rolling (DR, thickness 0.12-0.36mm), DR products have significant cost advantages because they are thinner and stronger.
2. By substrate type: including general steel (MR), high corrosion resistant steel (L, for acidic content packaging), high processability steel (D, for two-piece pull cans) and ordinary steel (SPCC, for miscellaneous cans).
3. By international standards: the mainstream implementation of Japanese standard JIS 3303 (tinning and substrate), European standard EN 10202, American standard is less used
